What to Pack for a River Cruise in Europre - A Dangerous Business

I’ve been traveling with a Hoboroll for years now. It’s basically a tube-like bag divided into five sections that helps make packing things like socks and underwear a breeze. They just released new versions of the Hoboroll (made from lighter material), and I’m in love all over again. For the little stuff that packing cubes don’t really work for, I highly recommend the Hoboroll!   Read more...

Hoboroll by Gobi Gear – Urban Packing Light - Brian's Backpacking Blog

The Hoboroll solves the organization problem through a clever series of internal compartments that run the length of the roll, similar to segments inside an orange, five compartments in total. The compartments can be used for separating and organizing your items and in return giving you easy access to what you need, when you need it. “It’s like the compression bags and stuff sacks that you use for backpacking dad, but it has a handle right on it and doesn’t need to be put inside another backpack. It’s really easy to put all my stuff in it and squeeze it up tight.” – Jack, aged 7 Read more…

The Hoboroll by Gobi Gear - Outdoor Gear TV

The Hoboroll, by Gobi Gear, is one of those ideas that make you say, “why didn’t I think of that?!” It is a compression sack with five dividers, allowing people, like me, to keep their dirty, smelly, grungy, disgusting, cloths away from other things in the bag. I immediately knew it would be a great thing for traveling, but I didn’t appreciate how useful it would be in other aspects of life as well. Read more…

Backpacking Gear Test - Backpack Gear Test

It was a tight squeeze but I managed to get it all in, which astounded me! When I cinched the ends closed I found they wouldn’t fully close, but did cinch enough to stop everything falling out. Next, I clipped the compression strap buckles together and gave a good yank on the straps to compress the roll. I managed to get some compression to reduce the diameter, as shown in the photo. Review for the Gobi Gear Hoboroll. - StartBackpacking.com

So, when I was approached by Gobi Gear to review their new Hoboroll — a packing aid for backpackers — I reluctantly agreed; the plastic bag I pack clothes in always worked fine before…I’ve now been carrying the Hoboroll for two months across Asia and like it more and more every day. Not only do I instantly know where to find all my clothes at any given instant, the module doesn’t even wrinkle T-shirts if I take the time to roll them properly first. I’ve been rained on a lot here and spend a lot of time in the sand; the nylon material provides a little bonus moisture and dirt protection to keep stuff clean. Read more…

Gobi Gear Hoboroll – a review by a mom. - Practical Travel Gear

I took my Hoboroll on a field run on our four-day backpack trip from Tuolemne Meadows to Yosemite Valley last July. We were short on pack space (three adults and three kids in your backpacking party will do that to you), so it was the perfect opportunity to put Hoboroll’s claim of reducing pack volume by 50% to the test…. My verdict: I loved that when I needed clothes, I didn’t have to dump everything out into the dirt of our night’s camp. The Hoboroll keeps everything clean, and to keep things that way, I simply loaded my dirty clothes into the opposite end. Clean clothing from one side, dirty into the other…simple as that.
